My service is one that is made for individuals with disabilities. These individuals can have a disability anywhere on the spectrum and can range from different levels.
She is a 20 year old girl that has a cognitive disability. She goes to Sidney Lanier school and has been attending since kindergarten. Every morning she takes the bus to school because her and her friends are on the same route. On the bus ride, they all talk freely and it is obvious that she is fueled by the people around her. At school she has a lot of friends and together they like to work on their school work, play basketball in the gymnasium, and tell jokes to each other. All of the students enjoy the relationships that they have made and they enjoy getting to grow with a group os people.
When the school day is done, she likes to go home to hangout. She likes to sing, dance, watch anime, and draw cartoons when she is in her room, so this is exactly what she does when she gets home every day. This is her way to show her creative side and to find something she is passionate about. When her family gets home, she talks to them about her day and they go about their evening. Her family consists of her mom, dad, and two sisters. The whole family eats dinner together every night and sometimes plays board games after supper. She then goes to sleep and wakes back up to do it all over again.
Her mom and dad work on the weekends and her two sisters are always busy with friends, so this leaves her alone and wanting something to fill up her time. This leaves her curious about the work force and a job that could help fill her time when she is bored with nothing to do. Her parents want her to find a hobby so that she does something productive with her free time, so a part time job at a local coffee shop would be a good option.

What do I have in common with her?
I also get fueled by the people around me and I love talking and listening to my friends. I also believe that everyone needs an activity that keeps them busy in their free time and this helps them find a purpose. Like any other 20 year old, most girls are wanting to enter the next stage of life, a stage where they feel important and find a way to find themselves.
Do I think it's a coincidence?
I came up with this opportunity because I have seen this problem on a first hand basis. Though my life is not directly related to this issue, it is an issue I see. Individuals with a disability should not worry about finding a job just because they have a disability.

I think this is a great thing to look at. People with disabilities should have the same sorts of opportunities as those without disabilities. I like how you outlined this person's every day life and made them more relatable to the reader. It makes the reader know that they live a normal life just like every other normal person. If this were to come to fruition, I believe that you would make a great impact on a lot of people. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHi Logan, you really put a lot of detail into your customer. I was able to imagine her and her day to day life. A lot of people think that people with disabilities live different lives but by reading your post, you can see that they do the same things that everyone else does. I have also had experience with people with disabilities and its good to see others being advocates for them.
