15A: Figuring out Buyer Behavior

Report Findings and drawing conclusions:

With my opportunity being a service, it is a little difficult to find alternate evaluations. I looked at different services that people with disabilities could perform and how this would affect my opportunity. Each interview led my mind to try to be more open to different services that could help these individuals. They all said that they feel happiest when their individual needs are satisfied and their evaluation on their job is best when they feel like they are making a difference.

Interview 1: The first person I interviewed was Briana. Briana is a student with a social disability and she just recently got a job at Plato's closet (yay). Briana said that when she was looking for jobs, she tried to find something that was not invasive with people and something where she had set hours. She told me that an alternate evaluation would be a different service like working in the back of a retail store or stocking shelves at a store. She told me that she prefers jobs that do not require much external communication with customers. Briana said that everyone is different and we need to be aware that different people have different needs when finding a job.

Interview 2:  The second person I interviewed was Joesph. Joesph is a man that moves around via wheelchair. He told me that when he looks for a job, he has always tried to find a space where there is a lot of room for him to move around. He said that the coffee shop is a good idea if he would have enough space to do the job and for others to also do their job.

Interview 3: The third person I interviews is Jeffrey. Jeffrey is the dad of a son that is on the autism spectrum. Jeffrey said that for a community ran business that only hired people with disabilities to work, it would have to reach the community. He said that the employees and customers would feel most at home if the community backed them up. He also mentioned that any service would have to specialize how people are different and it would have to compliment their strengths.

During these interviews, I learned more and more about the service that I want to offer. All together, this service needs to be able to compliment different people's strengths or it will fail. These individuals need to be able to go to work every day very happy, or there will be no point. They all recognize that if the coffee shop is ran efficiently, it would be the best bet to help these individuals. I learned that the best way to help the community and these individuals is to segment and find the strengths of the people that would work here.

  1. Logan,

I enjoyed learning about the interviews that you gave to others. I really see that you have the empathetic characteristic that you talked about in the previous post with this service. I liked the way you worked to be a diligent person in interviewing these people to really find out how to help them. These interviews seem very personable and I really enjoyed reading these interviews to find out more about those people! Your reflection is really an accurate self-criticism to your service and I see that you have found the faults in your service so you could make it better in the future!
