30A: Final Reflection

Image
1. I would say as a whole this class is informative and important if you have no idea how to start your journey as an entrepreneur. I would say the high of this class was being able to put my thoughts about my opportunity on paper, and being able to develop my feelings of this opportunity. I would say my low of this semester was having to do certain assignments, my least favorite and the assignments I thought were not helpful were the book reflection assignments. I do not really have time to read 3 books in one semester, and having to do this took away time I needed for other classes. The assignment I dreaded most was the elevator pitch. It got better with each one, but overall I dreaded doing this one. I do think it probably helped me in the long-run, but I did not enjoy it. 2. My most formative experience was the Unfair Advantage assignment. This assignment made me think outside the box and really think about my unfair advantage and how this translates to my opportunity. The most j...

1. Limited-item coffee shop that employs people with disabilities Name: "Gainesville's best" Opportunity:  The forces and changes in this environment that are creating this opportunity is the lack of jobs for people with disabilities. The workplace is an evolving place that is continuing to evolve, but not for people with disabilities. This opportunity is present because people with disabilities are going throughout grade school hoping there will be an opportunity for them to continue making a difference, but there isn’t. This market for my specific opportunity is Gainesville for people with ages between 18-23. But if you were to look at this issue at a national level, the market would be broader and would include almost all of the United States and it would contain all ages. Customers are currently satisfying this need by finding different activities and things to allocate their time to. These people with disabilities are left trying to find different ways to spen...

27A: Reading Reflection No. 3

The book I picked for the third assignment is "The Art of Social Media" by Guy Kawasaki. 1. The general theme of this book was to show people how to use and optimize social media. Whether you are using social media for a personal use or for a professional one, this book gives step by step instructions and tips on how to effectively use social media platforms. This book also teaches people how to effectively interlope the different platforms to have the most effective responses. This book does a good job of displaying how you can look good and bad when using social media and how exactly you can optimize these different platforms to expand your individuality. 2. This book connects with what we are leaning in ENT3003 by showing you how you can optimize the resources you already have or have easy access to. More social media platforms are free and this book expands on the theory that these platforms provide each individual with tools that lead to greater monetary value. I bel...

28A: Your Exit Strategy

1. I plan for my business to be a start up that will lead into a different business that can help in different ways. My limited-item coffee shop's main purpose is to help people with disabilities develop soft skills to help them for future jobs. I would like for my business to be able to help lots of people, but once a lot of these people have developed soft skills, the business may not have of big use anymore. 2. I have selected this strategy because I want to be able to see a different business plan be able to take over this concept and help it grow. I think my business is good to help develop the soft skills people with disabilities need, but then they will need to move on to develop different skills. 3. I think my exit strategy has greatly affected my opportunity because I have tried to develop a business that impacts the certain skills I think people with disabilities need to acquire before they can move on to a different job. I think from the very beginning I have always ...

26A: Celebrating Failure

1. I am going to use my summer internship to describe the last time I feel like I failed. As a fourth year accounting major, it is very common for us accounting students to be getting internships. This last summer, I moved to Dallas, TX where I completed a half tax, half audit internship. I am going to describe my failure as something that happened that I was not expecting. As I continued through my internship, I realized that I did not enjoy tax or audit, and as a 4th year accounting student, that seemed to be a big problem. This affected my daily mood and put me in the mindset that I did not pick the right major and that I was wasting my time. This affected my relationships, my mental health, and my energy. I felt like something that I worked so hard to get was a waste of time because I did not enjoy it. 2. I learned that I need to compartmentalize my feelings and not let the stress of work affect me in other aspects of life. I learned that life is NOT perfect, and sometimes it is ...

25A: What's Next?

What I think is next? I think the next step for my service is to be communicated to people with disabilities about this opportunity and then to see how it would fit into their lives. Since I already have the idea and plan in place, I need to start communicating with these people to see how to acclimate this service into their lives. Before anyone is hired, people need to be trained and they need to be aware of the basic knowledge that is needed to work here. I think a big step would be going to the schools and looking at their curriculum and seeing how their school tips can transition into work tips. With looking at the curriculum, we can be sure that each individual has the right skills to help them succeed in this position. Existing Market Interviews: 1- This person believes that the next step for me is finding the exact niche that would frequent this coffee shop and try and market to them. This person said that the people with disabilities would be most impacted if they are ta...

23A: Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

1. Social Capital-People that have a direct relationship to people with disabilities: I have the ability to get in contact with significant, direct resources of people with disabilities so I can know how to handle situations Valuable: This is valuable for this service because it would help me handle and understand different situations Rare: This is semi rare because many people would not have this resource, but people that do could also exploit it Inimitable: If someone could find this resource, they could copy it, but they would need to find it and make a connection with these people. Non-substitutable: A person that has a direct relationship with a student with disabilities and the amount of knowledge that they possess is not substitutable, there are different people, but this exact characteristic is not substitutable. 2. Support from the community: Different people and organizations are all about the idea and mission of my service and how it would help people with disabilities....
