12A: Figuring out buyer behavior

Segment:
The segment that I picked is people that have a direct relationship with a person with disabilities. The three people I have picked to interview is a mom with a child with disabilities, a teacher of students with disabilities, and a boy that has a cousin with disabilities. The disabilities these people have are all of differing variations and these people are all provided for in different ways.

Interviews:
During my interviews, I learned that all of the people I picked have a high demand for this service. They all said that the time and place this unmet need arises is when the person with disabilities is coming out of school and needs something else to devote their time to. They all said that a coffee shop would help the individuals develop skills and attributes that would help them in the workforce in the long run. When I interviewed the teacher, she told me how they prepare the students to get into the real world, but sometimes the opportunity isn't available to them. This is an aspect that we have seen before and something that will change how and when this problem will find a solution. The biggest "when" for when this opportunity presents itself is when the student is ready for the next phase of their life. With the coffee shop, this will help change how a few of these students go about their lives after school and begin to develop skills for the real world.

When the people that I interviewed become aware of the problem, they all said that they do research on other activities these individuals could do outside of school. They all said how having a job isn't the first thing that comes to their head because they think it is attainable. They all said how they have looked up what jobs people with disabilities are qualified for and they speak to other families that are in this position to see what the best course of action is. They said that they google different disabilities and how each affect different jobs. They all also said how they would try and speak to the school and try and find resources t help promote activity to their children.

Conclusion:
It seems like each of these people that have direct relationships with these people with disabilities are aware of the opportunity and have also done research on it. Their information search is sufficient and it shows that they do care about these individuals and their wellness. I think each of these people know that there is an issue and they have each tried to find their own solution, but now with this service, a different solution would present itself.

  1. Hi Logan.
I enjoyed reading your blog. I thought it was interesting that people who take care of people with disabilities on a day to day basis have to find new ways for this person to learn better people skills every day. In your conclusion, you talk about how important it is for people to do research. That relates to my blog because the people in my interviews were lacking this trait. They felt defeated and did not educate themselves or have the desire to do research which like you said is crucial.
