3A-Your Entrepreneurship Story
Two years ago, one of my high
school friends from home decided that she was going to start her own online
clothing boutique. She was entering her junior year as a fashion merchandizing
major and she thought she needed an opportunity that would help her stand out
when applying for jobs in a few years. She decided that she would name this business
“pops of pink” and it would have trendy pieces for college aged girls. This experience
was something that was really eye opening to me. Over the last two years, she
has made a solid profit and continues to grow a following. This is an entrepreneurial
experience that I will continue to see first-hand and see how she decides to
expand in the next few years. As an accounting major, I have only thought about
being entrepreneurial in the private accounting realm and did not think about
how you can create anything as an entrepreneur.
Initially, I enrolled in ENT3003
because I needed one more class to hit Bright Futures before I get into the 3/2
program. After the last couple weeks, I have realized that this class will help
expand my creative side of business. I hope to get a better understanding about
the business world and how entrepreneurs see the world around them.

ReplyDeleteI thought this was a great example. I enjoyed how you tied in your own accounting background and how you think this entrepreneur class will help that. Going back to our second week of lectures I thought it was very well put that entrepreneur does not have to just be about making a new business it can be about promoting yourself. I agree with you about why you enrolled in this class I also enrolled so that I would have a better understanding about myself and how I can create a better picture of me to promote myself in the real world. ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the fact that I also do not really have a creative side when it comes to business. I originally enrolled in this class to be a full time student, but I have been learning creative entrepeneurial skills along the way. I really like this example of someone in your life who has become an entrepreneur using social media.

ReplyDeleteI have always admired people like your friend that have the guts to start something from scratch, specially when they have success. Competing on the clothing market is a very difficult, unless you can find a niche and it sounds like your friend has managed to do so. My best friend is an accountant, worked for a few years in a firm and then joined a private partnership. He is very happy with his autonomy, so I think you’re on a very good path.
