6A: Identifying Opportunities
- Economic Trend: Tariff increase halted to mend relationship with China
- Source:https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/11/us/politics/trump-counterfeit-drugs-china.html?rref=collection%2Ftimestopic%2FEconomic%20Conditions%20and%20Trends&action=click&contentCollection=timestopics®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=2&pgtype=collection
- I believe an opportunity exists here because the relationship between China and the United States is in need of mending. By the tariff being delayed, President Trump shows a forthcoming gesture because of the request by the Vice Premier of China. This shows an opportunity to mend the economic relationship between China and the United States because it shows eagerness and understanding to Chinese culture and celebration.
- The prototypical customer of the opportunity would be people of both countries. Since the economic ties between China and the United States have been rocky, this opportunity could allow for people of both countries to stop paying higher prices for export and import goods. With this relationship being put forth, the economies of China and the United States will see to profit from the newly renounced relationship.
- This relationship can be easy or difficult to exploit. This is all depending on the eagerness of each country to put aside their differences and find ways to reduce tariffs and have relative companies in each country.
- I think I saw this as an opportunity because I have always known the economic tensions between China and the United States to be high. This gesture of President Trump is the first step to easing tensions and figuring out how two of the largest economies can both benefit in the long-run.
- Economic Trend: 50 years bonds payable to offset financing
- Regulatory Changes: U.S. Healthcare System evolving drastically

- I believe an opportunity exists here because of the rapid change the healthcare system has gone through since President Trump was elected. With healthcare spending at a high, people are seeing new policies affected the system in the United States. New innovations, acquisitions, and industries are allowing the healthcare system to evolve which shows an opportunity exists for the system to change in regards to federal initiatives.
- The prototypical customer of this opportunity would be anyone in need of healthcare and aid. The evolving system allows for people to experience a change of federal and state regulations.
- I think this would be difficult to exploit. A changing, positive healthcare system is one that few agree on. With different views and opinions at the state level, there is no true evidence to show that the healthcare system will be inclusive.
- I think I saw this as an opportunity because until recently, I didn't know much about the Healthcare system in the United States. I think the evolution of any program is needed for the progress of our country.
- Regulatory Changes: Data protection reform
- Source:https://www.zdnet.com/article/gdpr-an-executive-guide-to-what-you-need-to-know/
- I believe an opportunity exists here because of the need for personal and business data to be protected. In ever aspect of life, personal data is shared and hoped to be kept secret. With recent outbreaks, it has become well known that most of the time, our personal data is exploited for reasons we did not agree to.
- The prototypical customer is anyone. The exploitation of personal data is a fear of everyones and the opportunity to find a program to protect it, is one that everyone will be interested in.
- I think this opportunity would be easy to exploit. With the scam of personal data being at a high, individuals are wanting higher protection.
- I think I saw this as an opportunity because it has become apparent that our data is not being protected like we thought it was. This is an opportunity that affects everyone, and stricter regulations would lead to a peace of mind.
I found the article about the U.S. Healthcare System to be really interesting! This is a topic that is frequently discussed. I agree that our country needs to make progress in this area because healthcare is really unaffordable and unaccessible to so many people. We have some of the worst health crisis in the world and also some of the most expensive healthcare! These things don't line up to me!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of articles. The most interesting and relatable one to me is the last one, regarding security of data. It seems every day there are more people saying "sorry I was hacked" on their social media. Not long ago, my friend's snapchat was hacked as someone texted her pretending to be her roommate, and that led to them getting into her snapchat and asking a bunch of friends if they could lend her $50. Several people agreed and got scammed out of their money by the hacker. I agree that data protection needs to increase.
ReplyDeleteHey Logan,
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of articles! The article that resonates with me the most is the one on tariff with China! Being from Singapore, who trades with both China and the US, we are seeing the direct effects of the trade war! In fact, our Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is forecasting that the economy would undergo a recession in the 3rd quarter in 2020!
Interesting articles, I like the last article the best. I always find it troubling when companies get peoples personal data when they didn't agree to it or did not know it was going on. Every person has a right to privacy. I've also heard about companies using other peoples personal data for there own self-interest. If your data is so easily accessible then what is stopping hackers from stealing your data?
ReplyDeleteI Agree that protecting our data is going to become a very important problem is the near future. With the right data you can impersonate anybody online. This can cause a lot of problems not just for the people they impersonate but the businesses that get swindled. A bank could hand out a large loan and never get their money back because they were conned out of it. I think we need a new system to identify people SSN are outdated and being used for a purpose that they were never intended for.
