25A: What's Next?
What I think is next?
I think the next step for my service is to be communicated to people with disabilities about this opportunity and then to see how it would fit into their lives. Since I already have the idea and plan in place, I need to start communicating with these people to see how to acclimate this service into their lives. Before anyone is hired, people need to be trained and they need to be aware of the basic knowledge that is needed to work here. I think a big step would be going to the schools and looking at their curriculum and seeing how their school tips can transition into work tips. With looking at the curriculum, we can be sure that each individual has the right skills to help them succeed in this position.
Existing Market Interviews:
1- This person believes that the next step for me is finding the exact niche that would frequent this coffee shop and try and market to them. This person said that the people with disabilities would be most impacted if they are taught the skills needed for their position in school so that they would have a quicker transition.
2-This person believes that I need to start finding which schools I would try and get individuals from so that they can start preparing for their specific job.
3-This person believes that I need to try and start reaching out to different schools and different communities so that they can also open up the same service. This person believes that if I can start getting other communities involved, the idea will be more successful in the long run.
Reflection:
After listening to these people, I think I have found new ways to continue to grow and develop my existing market. It seems like a few of the big points are trying to specifically market my niche, finding where I will find these individuals, and getting more communities involved. The path shows that if I can fine-tune these few aspects, my opportunity will be more successful.
My venture will be positively affected if I can take what these people say and exploit it. I think it is always beneficial to get an outsiders view and see how they think an idea can evolve. These three people had similar ideas and they all seemed to be getting at the same idea that I need to continue ti develop my market.
With this information, I can expand my knowledge and continue to develop my idea to make it the best it can be.
New Market:
I think a new market that I can pursue is older people that have disabilities. The market that I am targeting are people that are 18-23 years old. I originally picked this market because they are fresh out of high school and ready to enter the next stage of their lives. I think I could expand this age group and make it from 18-30. With this expansion, I believe that I will be able to target different people with different skills and experience.
My venture concept would create value from this expansion by being able to reach different people and see how this service would affect them. I think my concept will also excel if I continue to evolve it and look for different spots that I can improve.
New Market Interviews:
1-This person believes that I should try and communicate with different activities and programs that people with disabilities are in after they complete high school. This person believes that if I can try and get connections, I will have an easier job getting into different age gaps.
2- This person believes that my service mix should be more adapted to people that are older. This person says that if I target a more mature audience, I will have a more successful business and I will be able to have a wider selection to be able to pick from.
Reflection:
I learned that this new market is readily available and wouldn't be hard to target. My expectations were that I would just have to use different tactics to target this group, and I would say that that stands true. My service is one that can reach different segments of people if it is marketed correctly, but it would need to reach different markets so that the opportunity is properly executed.
I think both markets seem to be the same level of attractiveness. I think by just expanding my market, I will be able to hit different segments and thus be able to find people with different abilities and skills. My opportunity will be able to be successful if it is exploited correctly, which with different segments, it can be.

I agree that including older people with disabilities would be beneficial for your idea. Obviously, disabilities never leave people, and although they sometimes get easier to deal with, they also sometimes do not. My uncle was disabled and was paralyzed, and as an adult I still think that he could benefit from services that support his inclusion as a "normal person" in society. Connecting back to your previous blog post, I think that community support would be equally beneficial for an older demographic of people.
ReplyDeleteLogan, I like the new market idea of including older people. Many of them have probably worked a bit so they would have more experience. I agree that getting the community involved is going to be the most important thing. I think that most of the community would support you especially here in Gainesville.
